The majestic Huize Batavia is located in the bustling and authentic neighborhood Otrobanda. This monument, built in 1747, is now close to the modern conveniences of the cruise terminal, cinema, Starbucks, Brionplein and Riffort with all its restaurants and shops.

As soon as you walk into the courtyard you will see the stately appearance of the building. A solemn staircase takes you to the first floor. All living and sleeping quarters were renovated under the inspiring leadership of the current owners, they bought the monument in deplorable condition. Previously they have shown on Curacao as owners of Landhuis Bona Vista that they know very well what they are doing. Huize Batavia was also taken care of with love, wisdom and a lot of perseverance.

The spacious living area has a gallery wrapped around and is divided into a library and a salon. The beautiful original wooden floor has been restored and the kitchen that was erected in one of the galleries has been completely removed. The living area is now being used as a petit restaurant were traditional high tea’s are being served in the weekend. A restaurant permit is also available.

Instead, a beautiful modern kitchen has been realized in the side wing. This is where craftsmanship of kitchen building and love for cooking starts. Behind the kitchen is a very spacious bedroom with a bathroom.

The porch adjacent to the kitchen and living room has many nice corners to enjoy and from here you can enjoy the view of the picturesque courtyard, the swimming pool and the city center of Curacao.

Behind the living area you will find another bedroom with a bathroom. Most windows and shutters have been replaced for durable Cumaru hardwood (class I), as in this room.

Via the stairs from the living room you enter the attic of Huize Batavia where to everyone's surprise there is a spacious suite, consisting of an en suite room, bathroom and bedroom. Of course, this bedroom has, just like all others, an air conditioning.

Through the porch at the kitchen, a staircase leads you to the romantic courtyard at the rear where you get to the pool. Despite the fact that you live in the middle of the city, the garden is quiet and peaceful. The swimming pool has been realized in the original water basin from 1742. Two apartments have been built on the back of the site, these are not monumental. One of them has a bedroom, kitchen / living room and porch. Between the two apartments is the gate to Otrobanda. From here you walk to the bakery in the morning or have a chat with the friendly local residents.

On the side of the monument is an elongated building that is being used as a restaurant and cafe, this also yields a return on investment. This building is also not monumental. These may therefore be replaced or changed. The building is not included in the asking price, but purchase of this object is negotiable.

Otrobanda Curacao

Otrabanda is a historically important quarter of our capital, Willemstad, Curaçao. This beautiful district came to a bloom when the once walled city of Punda, Willemstad, became overpopulated.
