This very spacious building is located in Otrobanda Curacao. This is your chance to become the owner of a monumental building which is perfect as an investment object. It is a spacious building that can be flexibly arranged. For example, it could be perfect as an apartment complex.
The succursale hospital, built as a military hospital, now known as the “Quarantaine building” was erected in 1856 east of the actual Quarantaine building (now used as the Curaçaos Museum) on Mundo Nobo. (see appendix from MD Ozinga, “The monuments of Curacao in words and images” page 120-123). While the latter, three years older military hospital on Mundo Nobo, is characteristic of the Curaçao style, the style of the present building is neoclassical . It is the earliest dated example of classicism on the island. Characteristic of this style is the block-shaped building volume, the recessed and protruding corner blocks, the profiled cornice and the pediments above the window openings of the second story. From 1941 to 1961 the building was used by the ADC (Analytical Diagnostic Center). Later the building was used by the Curacao Academy of Visual Arts.
Mundo Nobo is close to Piscadera Bay. This is a bay with calm waters, located about 10 minutes from Willemstad. There are detached houses and there is a supermarket. The Piscadera Bay Resort is also located in the bay. Here you find yourself in a space of tranquility with tropical bungalows. All major hotel chains are located here, such as Dreams, Floris Suites and Marriot. Other beautiful seaside resorts are also close to Mundo Nobo, such as the Corendon Mangrove Beach Resort and the Royal Palm Resort.
Curaçao has many diving options, pearly white beaches, hospitable culture and various outdoor activities. Mundo Novo is therefore a perfect base to relax and enjoy everything that Curaçao has to offer.
The building is built in stone over three stories on a rectangular floor plan. The building was covered by three consecutive hipped roofs with a chimney on the southwest corner. The ridge of the roofs are oriented east-west. The
ridge and corner rafters were covered with half tiles. The roofs are hidden from view by an attic. All windows were fitted with gunner windows and panel doors with gunners respectively. All openings have water lists. The facades are plastered and painted. Upright windows are available on the floors. On the ground floor of the
facade (south facade) is a centrally placed main entrance with a door at each end. A standing window has been placed between the doors. In front of the main entrance there is a sidewalk with quarry stone paving. The rear façade on the ground floor has a centrally placed double door and two upright windows. There are two steps in front of the door, the top of which consists of a piece of natural stone with profiled sides.
The land of the Quarantaine building has been issued on a long lease, this lease runs until May 23, 2063 and the ground lease is NAF 4.80 per m2 per year. The total area of the plot is 1,770m2. The annual ground lease rent amounts to NAF 8,496.00. As destination, the ground lease agreement states that the plot may be divided into apartment rights and that the building may be used both residential and commercial.
The building consists of three layers, at the front of the building there is another cellar of which the dimensions are unknown. The outside dimensions of the building are 16.15 x 25.7 = 415m2 x3 layers is 1,245m2.
